It’s the same way everyone talks about how dating apps suck and it’s ruined dating, etc. But what is the real alternative?
I married a very nice girl last month. We met at work 5 years ago.
We need to figure out how to rebuild social relations without the Internet. Otherwise the billionaire class will control access to the opposite gender. For the sake of humanity, go be nice to a stranger.
Go out and meet people?
Go out and meet people?
Nowadays they don’t understand how that works.
I get what you’re saying, and to a certain extent you are correct, but where do you go to meet people when all the people you might meet are sitting at home swiping their phone screen?
don’t know where you live but where I live, the outside is full of real people
No they do have a point. How are you to meet people with similar interests, if your similar interests are “Enjoys staying at home and being cozy all day”
if that’s your only interest in life you do not need a partner
Well aren’t you just a quite sad person. No one should ever be lonely in life. There are plenty of people who would be quite happy with being able to share that interest, regardless of how difficult it might be to find someone with similar interests.
I was also being vague on purpose, for instance, while my interests are simply being cozy at home, it includes doing many many things at home, but that don’t require me to go out. Online dating doesn’t solve this either. It’s very rare to meet someone in close proximity to you as well, so if that’s a route you want, you might want to be comfortable moving.
for telling people to go outside and meet others instead of buring their faces in their phones and pretend loneliness and dating apps are their only choice? ok, bud
dating apps are different in that you’re specifically using it to get a date, instead of trying to make your life look more fun/happy/glamorous than that of your “friends”. once you meet someone and start a relationship, the app served its purpose and (in theory) you stop using it. i’ve never used a dating app, but i can see the value in them for people who are looking for specific less-than-common traits in a partner-- if you’re asexual (for example) and looking for someone who’s the same, then an app might be the only way you can find that someone. the alternative is go out looking on your own every day until you happen across whatever specific thing you’re looking for by chance, which may never happen.
