For some reason commercial broths are bad for this.

Which is weird, because when you make stock you do not want to add salt until the very end, if at all.

Yeah. I remember the last time they tried to ban ready meals. We are a nation of nothing. No housing, no food, no nothing - the ultimate austerity.

My only wish is that the VPN I have to use to even browse steam workshop also physically transported me to Germany or France or something. Tories out, Tories in, things can only ever get worse.

Ready meals are unhealthy, not hugely tasty, and more expensive than making it yourself.

Yes. You know what they are though? Fast. That’s kinda the point. I can throw one of these in during a meeting and just leave it in the microwave, then consume the slop, the whole thing taking maybe 15 mins at most, with the vast majority of that time me still being free to do something else while it’s cooking.

Sure, but you could instead make a giant pan of e.g. spag bol one evening, put in individual tupperware tubs and freeze them. Then bring into work as an when. Saves umpteen trips to the shops.

I don’t mean to deride them in every circumstance - I probably buy them 3 or 4 times a year when I haven’t been able to shop/cook for some reason. But if they weren’t available, that would probably be better for consumers and the environment. A tin of soup is much easier to recycle

FYI: “Too much salt” isn’t bad for you at all if you don’t have high blood pressure or you’re retaining too much water.

That’s it. Nothing else bad. It’s also the safest thing to try if you have hypotension.

“In contrast, every Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose, Co-op, Lidl and Covent Garden soup tested had salt levels at or below the government target.”

Phew! Pretty much the only soup I eat on a regular basis is the Covent Garden Classic Chicken. To which I add some black pepper, some grilled chicken (if I have leftovers), and some Mahi Bhut Jolokia hot sauce. But I’ve never wanted to add salt.

This is a crazy idea, but add water to your soup. Dilute it. It’ll be less salty.
