@Red5@PanGodofPanic depends a lot on the bike and what the market and legislation is like in a given country. Here in Finland pedal assist bikes are the norm, and I bought a nice bike with a 250W (limit for still being classified as a bike instead of a moped) Bosch motor with a lot of torque for 3k€. In the US the regulations are more lax so there are a lot more options on the market and some of them are really cheap.
Meanwhile, I thought my one time $700 ebike and accessories was a big purchase. I don’t even pay for gas.
That’s second hand right? They are generally way more expensive than that, right?
The cheapest ebikes I’ve seen from a reputable brand were about $900, mine was around $1500-2000 but for some use cases it’s overkill

I got mine brand new for $750. It’s an Amazon thing, but it’s held up for a year now with no issues.
