It “works” the same way you can eat fast food to prevent starvation since you do get calories from it. But you essentially do damage to yourself long term and slowly kill yourself.

In moderation it can work, but just like fast food, it’s always better to eat less, ideally 0 amount.

It might be worth it if you don’t have any other option, but not having any other option is a bigger failing on overall planning.

If you consume lots of it then you do tolerate it more than those who abstain themselves; whom totally feel sick when they consume any of it.

At the end of the day, it would never be considered quality or good, but just like fast food, our cooperate overlords will try to get us to use it as much as possible.

I just hope this means that similarly, those who respect their mind/body can easily live their life and avoid it.

The only difference I can think of is that fast food is profitable, which is pretty hilarious.

So, back to the title, imagine living in a world where a significant chunk of the population think McDonald’s is somehow better than home cooked meals. That’s where we are at atm.

Do people feel sick from eating fast food? Depending on how you define it I only eat fast food once every couple months on road trips since I’m vegetarian and the options are usually shit outside of Taco Bell, but cyclospora jokes aside I’ve never felt sick from those occasions.

Sick? Like puking, fever, sore throat, runny nose type sick? No, but it does make feel not good. It makes me feel queasy, like there’s a heavy lump in my stomach, gives me abdominal pain in the hours afterwards, if I get a soda with it I might also get a headache. Granted I cook 95%+ of the food I eat, have it with water and I don’t eat red meat so a hamburger meal with a soda is going to be extra rough on me but I do avoid it because it makes me feel unwell. I’ve noticed that if I’m extremely hungry, like haven’t eaten in a day type hungry I will be able to tolerate it a lot better, except for the abdominal pain, but I think that’s more because my gut biome doesn’t have enough of the right bacteria for red meat but in an emergency situation where it’s the only option you don’t get to be choosy
