Republican U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama and the current GOP nominee for governor of the state targeted trans people in a speech on the Senate floor, spewing transphobia and misinformation. In a tangent, the Republican also seemed to support a conspiracy theory that many flight attendants are furries.
The lawmaker accused trans people of violence and even proposed that they should be put in mental health facilities as he stood beside a poster with a pregnant man emoji with “transgederism is a mental disease” on the top.
This is a US Senator punching himself in the balls to drum up the base for the midterms. No one is going to be flying without pilots and fuel. Instead of expanding pilot training programs and ending the Iran war, we get this garbage.
Do you know how to fly a fucking commercial airliner “coach” Tuberville? You know what’s actually terrifying? A constituency that thinks coaching football qualifies you to be a US Senator. What a fucking joke of a man.
Not that it matters but he was such a godawful coach, too…
Call me crazy, but I’d actually like some more “regular every-day people” to be representing their constituents in congress. Granted, there are a lot of shitty regular every-day people, Tommy Tuberville as an example.
College football coaches in public universities are nearly always the highest paid public employee in their state.
This was not a “regular, every day” person. It’s an act to get votes.
