As the other person below me wrote, that’s the process in NJ and Oregon. So this person has something else in mind. Maybe drive through without stopping or something. Drive through with the door open? Just openly spray gasoline at a car like a squirt gun and have gutters send the fuel to the tank? I have so many questions!!!
Depends on the country/area. Most western countries it’s DIY, either paying at the pump or inside to staff.
Personally I prefer this because I feel lazy af otherwise. Though, it’s quite nice in Japan because they often do the windows and stuff while pumping. But places like Greece, you just sit there awkwardly wanting to stretch your legs but they’re confused if you get out.

That’s just one piece of this I am attempting to unpack. What does this persons gas station experience look like?
Presumably they get out of the car? In a drive-thru restaurant, you don’t get out.
I think this is the idea. So the driver can reach the gas tank without getting out of the car.
Because gods forbid that anyone has to walk 15 steps on their own feet to pump some gas.

In a few states, its illegal to pump your own gas. An attendant has to come over and do it for you. Maybe that’s what they want?
Even in the places you pump yourself, you never really leave your car. So while it’s not exactly like a drive thru, it’s not unlike one either.
