Pedant here, cancer is not a disease, it’s an umbrella term covering many types of diseases related to unregulated cell growth. There never will be a “cure for cancer”. There will never be a “cure for breast cancer” because there are different origins of breast cancer. We may find a cure for specific types of cancers, and each of those should be celebrated.

And not to be too hope pilled, but that’s where we are in cancer research. Researchers are essentially in the process of building an armory of silver bullets. Sure most cancers don’t have cures yet, but some of them do, and while it may not sound as flashy or impressive to say that you’ve developed a cure for a specific form of a specific cancer in people who have compatible genes, it does save lives.
Oh yeah that’s not hope pilled at all. It’s important to have hope in life. A life without hope is a sad, lonely life. The FDA just approved the first ever personalized mRNA vaccine for a skin cancer, I think. It’s super cool and 20 years ago would have been considered science fiction.
