The recent example of the U.K. Labour Party shows that “compromising” rarely stops at some acceptable midpoint.

Overall, weak-willed centrists are slowly losing the intraparty debate.

Hold the line, and have faith. We are in this together, and we will get through this together.

    Real centrists will say that those medical procedures are nothing of government’s concern and shouldn’t be moderated at all.

        Then I think we need to make one because unfortunately there are a lot of people in this country who strongly identify with that aesthetic. I run into people constantly who are “I’m not into politics, but I know there’s liars and idiots on both sides, and we really just need to settle down and have a conversation and agree on common sense stuff, like giving the military hundred of millions of dollars and subsidizing oil refineries and criminalizing homelessness.” I think you could get these people to just as easily say “common sense stuff, like universal healthcare and safe injection sites and supporting the International Criminal Court,” but they need a boring ass normie from the suburbs to tell them that’s “normal.”

      Centrism doesn’t have tenants or foundational principles beyond being moderate. The notion that centrism can be a launching point for any position is just grifter propaganda. Being a centrist is a tacit admission that one doesn’t hold positions based on their individual merits but by their relative acceptance. It’s called the Golden Mean Fallacy but I prefer “4D Group Think”.

      Real Centrists are people like Tim Pool, Bill Maher, Cenk Uyger, etc.

          You have to understand, I consider all centrists closeted right wingers(grifters) or libertarian-adjacent levels of ignorant. In Tim Pools case he’s both. Bill Maher isn’t ignorant he’s just a right wing grifter.

          Centrism is fundamentally about pleasing as many people as possible. The grifters gospel.

          It doesn’t have tenants or principles with which you can qualify someone based on their stances because the stances of a centrist are fundamentally populist in nature.

        Well that’s true, though, right?

        If you call yourself a centrist, but then support an interventionist policy that makes trans healthcare more difficult… you’re probably just wrong about being a centrist.

        The same applies the other way. If you support governmental protections for trans healthcare (broadly), and enshrining basic protections across state lines, you’re, again, not a centrist.

        The difference is that the latter group isn’t ashamed, so they aren’t hiding their opinions for the sake of being less controversial. We’re proudly supporting our trans friends because good people don’t take the middle ground when one side wants to e.g. prosecute their friends’ doctors for providing healthcare across state lines.

          If this was a discussion about what a centrist is, sure we could take that at face value and say a “real centrist is…”.

          In terms of this discussion of the author’s opinions on the Democrats that call themselves centrist and their actions, no.
