Making a killer drone that doesn’t require human input just seems stupid. The human input is the point.
The argument is that drones can be jammed if they use wireless controls, and when piloted by fiber optics have limited range /can still sometimes have the fiber cut. Autonomous drones are the answer to the countermeasures being used in Ukraine/Russia right now.

Yup. Might as well just dump a bunch of landmines. Probably cheaper.

Ukraine already admitted to using indiscriminate killer drones in battle, which is a war crime, but no-one seems to care much.
It’s going to be hard to make that argument when those for it can just say: “this helps to reduce the use of combatants, so it saves lives.”

Unfortunately, like the Ottawa Treaty on Landmines, countries at war are going to ditch their commitments to restrict inhumane weapons use at the first opportunity.
Man, I was just thinking I my Waymo was packed with explosives. They never make mistakes and should be free to bomb without oversight.
