The previous Mayor of Montreal, who ran for Projet Montréal campaigned partly on expanding bike lanes and followed through on several major bike lane projects.

I don’t know the history of this specific bike lane, but I know it’s a small street that normally doesn’t get a ton of traffic. It’s a perfect street to host a bike lane, but it’s a somewhat upper-class neighborhood and the residents want their street parking, and bikes are for the poor.

Usually hotdog eating competitions are timed. You get like 5 minutes to eat as many as possible, and 19 wouldn’t even be close to qualifying.

With two legs of vastly different lengths, it seems unlikely.

Extending subway tunnels by 41 miles would cost many, many billions.

The problem is that people don’t see public transit as a public service, and instead see it as a source of revenue, which is crazy. You don’t build public infrastructure expecting direct monetary returns on the investment. The returns are indirect, but they are there.
