American infrastructure makes it so one has to depend on the car for everything. Doctors appointment, out of milk, want to take your dog the dog park? Get in the car.

Community it also dead, so others aren’t going to step in and help out, probably not even his family.

I’m not implying that justifies anything, but incidents like this are be expected in the USA - ride or die (why not both?!)

Probably safe to expand that sentiment out beyond the Americas to the Milky Way.
