Politics@beehaw.org•US Judge Rules ICE Raids Require Judicial Warrants, Contradicting Secret ICE Memo
0·2 months agoIt does not matter when the rule of law is not enforced nor supported:
“Those that think law, accountability, transparency, and ethics can save us from this moment. I fear they can not. Thus, to shout, “You can’t do that,” is now moot. They can do that, and they will do that. Many remain unaware that the window for warning has already closed. Our conversation must shift from “You can’t do that,” to “What can we do to stop this?” The answer is not clear. However, an answer, some answer, lies in how we view freedom and how we protect it.”

I’ve been advocating for a similar shift in language for the last few years. In regards to a lack of repercussions for elite actors that is. Massie is closer than others, but still asking for justice in a world that simply has none. You can not expect justice in this regime. You must think differently and ask new questions to open new possibilities.
Indeed, we need to stop looking at this moment as a breach of normality. Stop asking “why won’t you do something” and stop declaring that things are against the law. We are way past that. We need to accept that the rule of law is dead. It is gone, cremated, and scattered. Only then can we act.accordingly.
