Distrobox has been hit or miss for me, the images (mostly the arch ones) sometimes just come out borked right out of the box, but I still second this. I haven’t had issues with Bazzite’s immutability and I use it on my gaming rig as well as my Framework laptop which I use for work. Whatever makes me feel like its straying from the path of Bazzite, I just throw it into a mint distrobox. I don’t even attempt to install it directly into Bazzite unless it’s an appImage or a flatpak. As a webdev who handles multiple node versions and multiple codebases at once, I have 0 issues with Bazzite for work.

I don’t know that there’s good solutions right now, at least for people like you and me; I had some android tv boxes from bestbuy but they are region locked to the US so I had to use my laptop with a VPN as a hotspot for the boxes to be able to set them up, and they have lost that configuration before causing me to do it again.

Right now I don’t have TVs but at this point I think I’d be more compelled to try and make an HTPC running Linux and using KDE’s TV mode. I’m not too versed on the tech but I’d guess that lack of… CEC (?) Would be the biggest hurdle to overcome, right? But a machine of your own design would probably handle many more codecs and games, and at better performance, than any tv box would… And a steam machine does have that tv tech, although its… a bit too expensive.

I’d love nothing more than an affordable little box that wasn’t a complete violation of your privacy or a forfeiture of your freedom to use the hardware how you see fit, but I think the high price of an HTPC or a steam machine is the literal price of our right to own our shit in this day and age.

Show me the last time they mattered for mofe than weakening the votes for one party or another. You guys could have a serious group of other parties, but you’re too dumb to realize th e system is rigged to have the two big ones, abd you’d have to change that system to change that status quo. As a left-leaning person seeing the right growing in power with every election (and every country), acknowledging that Democrats don’t hold my or my community’s best interests, but also acknowledging that they are closer or more adjacent to my views than Republicans and that we realistically are stuck in a 2 party system that forces us to choose a lesser evil, why shouldn’t I vote for the democratic party?

During the last presidential elections, the great argument that voting for Kamala was voting for genocide and whatnot was made. Can those who argued this stand here today and claim that their decision, their arguments, their views, were the correct assessment of the situation? Are your consciences clear knowing the hell Trump has enabled on Gaza, Yemen, and Iran? Knowing how much he’s empowered the billionaire class, the Zionists, the warmongers, the hateful, the corrupt?

There’s no alternative party, no momentum for one, no alternative system and no desire for change from the ruling class, and you’re stuck choosing between the literal worst group of people of our modern world, and people who aren’t as bad but aren’t great. Will you really argue, after primaries - and the chance to steer parties internally - are over, that both sides are the same and undeserving of your vote? Or that somehow voting for Trump’s party is the better choice?

I’m asking not because I expect you specifically to take blame or anything like that, but because this was the rhetoric last time, straight up MLs arguing in favor of voting for Trump over Kamala in a very unexpected turn of events that I simply could not believe or accept as anything other than a psyop by non-MLs.

Now similar voices are speaking, reminding everyone that both parties are the same in the worst possible moments to point that out. Not during the primaries, when the parties can be stirred into a direction, not at the moment parties register or organize, to have a fighting chance with a new movement, and not at the legislative level fighting for a more fair voting system… No… It’s always at the last leg of the race, between the two big parties, in a rigged system, when not voting for the lesser evil exponentially empowers the vastly greater evil.
