Weirdly I picked 2 up yesterday. 1st gen I think battery isn’t to bad, I’d almost forgotten the swish around the wheel.

Also go a gen5 but the battery was shagged! Plugged it in and it went pop.

I have been looking at Affinity as a sub for InDesign. I have never actually tried it though. Does it work on Linux?

I dropped Adobe a few years ago, I do love inscape, however yeh it has limitations, gimp for photos. Not found anything to good with text. Been back and forward with Scribus but it’s just so awkward.

Have you tried libre office as an alternative to MS or Google. It’s pretty decent.

Even if people do choose a 4 day and/or act their wage, it’s their right to.

How dare the plebs not toil like they used do…we need regulation because clearly high cost of living is not making it hard enough.

Hopefully jumping between different model but same shit highlights the bigger picture. And maybe just some of them may even say enough is enough.

I think the attitude of being virtuosos or preachy can seep in at times, especially when being part of a cause but IMO diplomacy, having conversations and opening their mind to objectivity has to be better than telling people they are wrong.

I know this is easy to say, and esp when so many people are just so addicted to social media and the internet.

I have had conversations with friends, family where they can have a clear conversation about how much propaganda is pushed on to them, and they then turn straight to their phone and hoover up and hour of FB. It does make you think wow sheep. But I have to remind myself we don’t get change by telling people ‘you clearly don’t know your own mind’

Yup this is a great example. LLM for non opinion based stuff or for stuff that’s not essential for life. It’s great for finding a recipe but if you’re gonna rely on the internet or an LLM to help you form an opinion on something that requires objective thinking then no. If I said hey internet/LLM is humour good or bad, it would insert a swayed view.

It simply can’t be trusted. I can’t even trust it return shopping links so I have retreated back to real life. If it can’t play fair I no longer use it as a tool.

I have actually noticed, and was also considering asking about this. 2 observations from my point.

1. The new users with a stream of posts comments in the last day…I think I have noticed them more as they seem to have a higher rate of profile pics. Lemmy does not seem big on profile pics so that stood out to me. I could likely be wrong.

2. More new users littering sarky or rude comments to start argumentative behaviour. It’s not even on hot topics either, it’s more subtle posts. It’s a bit odd as Lemmy is usually pretty friendly.

This drives me crazy. Hopefully it’s the start of the end for FB.

I think other place have over a number of years narrowed in on what a user wants to see and delivered that. Lemmy/piefed don’t do that natively so when people first arrive they see everthing in terms of feed and nothing in terms of customisation/personalisation. That can feel overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time.

It is a learning curve so I think it could help if that’s explained and support/guidance. Or at least it’s explained take your time and learn how to make it work for you.

There are so many sites I just don’t bother with due to crap like this. I can live without what ever they are offering.
