Missouri voters overwhelmingly rejected a ballot measure that would have launched the state down a five-year path to eliminate its personal income tax and expand its ability to impose sales levies on new goods and services.

The measure, known as Amendment 5, sunk by a 83% to 17% vote, according to preliminary results posted by state election officials.

    Was honestly very confused how this could have performed quite so terribly until I read there was also a section that would’ve taken away the people’s right to approval of sales tax hikes and that makes a lot more sense.
