The text from Eric Flores, the Republican nominee for Texas’s 34th Congressional District, is brief. It says, “Attachment: $5,000 Check … Pres. Trump just authorized it,” a reference to the financial windfall that Donald Trump promised for every adult in America if the GOP retains power in the midterms. It is followed by a link to access the “portal” to “submit approval ASAP.”

But like many text-based scams, the link does not follow through as advertised. Instead, it goes to a donation website for Flores.

It’s unclear who is behind the website; in one section, it says that it is paid for by Eric Flores for Congress and another says it is paid for by WinRed, the Republican National Committee’s fundraising platform, and “Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.”

Rafael Cruz seems to be getting along ok so far. When you’re rich and connected you don’t have to care about those “others”, even if they’re the same race as you.

I know when somebody says to me “here’s $5,000” and then instead of giving me $5,000 they ask me to give them money, I’m very happy and I want to give that person all of my money and vote for them in the upcoming election.

Because the election hasn’t occurred yet. Trump’s promise was 5000 to every adult IF the Republican party wins enough elections to keep a majority control. It was not 5000 to every adult after the election, that’s only after they get their desired results. Yes there is absolutely no world in which they pay up but calling them liars over the situation as it stands now is misdirected or just flat out wrong.

    Pres. Trump just authorized it

Yet another admission of illegal abuse of power and blatant disregard for the Constitution. Congress (when not derelict in their duties) appropriates funds for federal spending.
