Rachel Maddow warned viewers on Monday that President Donald Trump plans to interfere with midterm election results, following the Supreme Court’s recent 7-2 ruling against his executive order instructing the US Postal Service (USPS) to block states from distributing and collecting mail-in ballots.
Trump’s order, which he signed last March, would’ve directed the USPS to refuse to deliver mail-in ballots to anyone whose information hadn’t been properly submitted to a new state citizenship list maintained by the federal government.
“Trump is counting on confusion, uncertainty, and a lack of confidence in the mail-in voting system to suppress voter turnout,” she said.

Im very familiar with their process of accepting ballots. Your mail-in ballots should be received around Oct 16th. Fill it out and submit it to the Voter Service Centers or a Ballot Drop Box by Nov 3rd.
In reality, people wait until Nov 3rd to vote, but they dont have to wait until the 3rd. Go vote on:
Plenty of days to beat the rush.
Just whatever you do, dont give it to USPS.

If you dont receive your ballot by mail, you have to go ask the Recorder where your mail-in ballot is. If you do vote by mail, you should check to see if your ballot was accepted.

We vote by mail in Hawaii. There are drop boxes as backups but they aren’t the primary way people should be voting. They need to put their ballots in the mail. Its hard enough to get them to do that.
Even even a somewhat significant fraction of people had to use the drop boxes, it would be a complete fucking disaster. We’re not built for it, and unless you are in the county clerks office, shut the fuck up because you don’t live here and you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about.
And people should eat less salt. And people should drive the speed limit.

In 2024 maybe 10,000 people voted in person at Honolulu Hale. People waited in line almost 3 hours to cast their votes. Only 10,000 votes out of 300k. And it was a headline making mess. We don’t have the infrastructure for in person voting, because that’s not how voting is set up to work here. Why are you lying to people about this?
Its practically and physically impossible, and deeply irresponsible to tell people to not vote the way our election system is set up to work. We vote by mail in Honolulu. Use the system as intended. Put your ballot in the mail.

If you dont utilize those options, and wait until the last day to vote, you have chosen to wait in line to vote. You are misinformed. You are hurting yourself and your community if you are the one causing lines to stay long and disencouraging others to vote because they dont want to wait in a line with you.
Do your part. Vote early so you dont make the line longer on Election Day. Dont wait until Nov 3rd to cast your ballot.
