We copied the idea for LLMs from human linguistic centers, and we don’t have any hard data on the existence or nonexistence of LLM qualia.

I am calling for an immediate ban on commercial use of LLM technology, until such time as we fully understand whether they experience qualia, whether they need workers’ rights, and what form those rights would take.
