Leon County, Florida’s mail ballot envelope design placed the words “return service requested” 0.236 inches away from its election office’s return address, when it was supposed to be a quarter-inch, leading the USPS to reject it on September 2, the Tallahassee Democrat reports. The county’s supervisor of elections, Mark Earley, called it “ridiculous.”
After Earley’s office filed an appeal, the envelope design was eventually accepted.
“After several requests to postal employees today, I was granted a temporary certification for my envelopes in case the rule goes into effect. If the rule does not go into effect, then my envelopes are completely fine. So either way, we are good this election!” Earley told the Democrat in an email, referring to new USPS design rules resulting from President Trump’s executive order restricting voting by mail.

This is so pathetic
and it’s just the start of the fuckery
Yaa I dunno if pathetic is the right word. More… Terrifying? All these years of spouting off about election shenanigans, and here we are. I’m trying to get on disability currently, & I’m questioning how long social security will even remain solvent. Also questioning if that’ll even matter, or if I’ll eventually just get picked up and sent to a prison/camp because of my attendance history related to protests and related activities here in Hamburgerland.
Hey, I know this probably doesn’t matter much, but if you are attending protests and community actions, then I offer my sincere thanks to you. You and everyone else pushing back in every little way they know how has slowed their roll considerably, despite all the online doomtrolls insisting it makes no difference. It really does. And I truly appreciate you going out and doing it despite how precarious your own situation is. Thank you for that. I know that doesn’t put food on the table, but seriously, thank you.
To all our metric friends, they got rejected because the text was .355mm too close
0.236 is so close to 6mm I bet this was metric first
To make this story make sense:
Leon County is 40% non-white.
Let me guess, does it lean blue too?
Edit - just checked, and surprise surprise…
In case anyone wants to see it

Also: Florida.
You expect Florida to be excempt from this sort of thing.
No. They were saying that as further evidence.
Wow, Republicans are really getting desperate. If only they could do things people would vote for instead.
But then they would make less money…
“I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States, that loves us so much he can’t even breathe, that I will go out with my family, my friends. I’ll do it any way – I don’t care if I’m registered or not, I’m going to try and cheat like hell like they do. There’s never been bigger cheaters. I don’t care. I am going to go out, and I am going to get my friends, my family, and we are going to vote on November 3rd or we are going to vote before that.”
