Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said in an interview with NBC News that he will encourage progressive voters to still back Democrats on the ticket in November even if moderates are victorious in the primaries.
He’s doing that because one alternative is better than the other. Nothing is preventing us from continuing to push the party left in addition to that.
The real opportunity comes from being able to see results from the likes of Mamdani. Every “win” he achieves shows that change is possible. That example could be enough to ratchet the Democrats back to the left.
I do have reservations about us getting in our own way but maybe this time we’ll learn the value of patience and temperance.
