Probably because in many countries with actual privacy laws that stuff is illegal, but they did it anyway because they figured the risk to reward made sense.

They’re all colluding and know Trump will kill any investigations or justice of any kind.
Being a foreign company, I’m fairly sure that’s unlikely to happen unless he somehow convinces them to ditch South Korea entirely (doubtful).
LG’s US division still falls under US law.
