So-called "barely legal" pornography and content depicting sexual relationships between step-relatives are set to be banned amid efforts to regulate intimate image sharing.
The content is said to “normalise the sexualisation of children, promote the idea that children consent, and fuel demand for real child abuse material”
So academia supports this? Oh we’re just curtailing freedom on vibes again?
Yeah I worry they are putting the cart out before the horse. Imho “barely legal” (porn featuring people who look or are portrayed as barely of the legal age of consent) porn being as widespread and popular as it is, isn’t the cause of sexual violence against children and adolescents, but rather a culture of adults that sexualise minors and would perpetrate that violence anyway are the reason the content is as popular as it is.
Ofc I have even less data to go off of than the authors of this bill but this has vibes of “video games cause violence” all over again

Most teenagers watch porn, and “barely legal” porn is made mostly for them and their fantasies.
I don’t think that’s the whole story, but without hard data there’s not much point diving further
You can say this about nearly any porn
