What’s interesting is that the GtS account displays the entire text of the article, while the Mastodon account only shows the preview and a link…
You can also follow the same account from PieFed, but currently there’s nothing that comes up.

Mastodon has the same issue with Lemmy posts, it’s an issue with different activity types. I think Mastodon posts are “notes” and Lemmy/Phanpy posts are “articles”, so Mastodon won’t fully render them because they don’t really focus on compatibility with other platforms.
These are both Phanpy. I think the difference is GtS vs. Mastodon.

As much as I love Mastodon for what it has achieved, I have to also agree that it’s bad . For many reasons, several of which are fundamental in nature. But I digress.
I think in a vacuum Mastodon is very good, it works really well. But only with itself. They don’t seem very eager to work with other ActivityPub platforms.
Protecting children from accidentally seeing anything slightly sexy is naturally the top priority. That’s what is harmful to minors. We better all stick to legally safe things like racism-based disinformation.
… but yeah, the designers of mastodon deliberately chose to avoid posts any longer than very short.
Vanilla Mastodon will totally display long posts though. You just can’t create them.
