I’m looking for an electric shaver, but I’m totally lost. I saw the Philips one, but I saw that I have to pay for the head every couple months.
What are you using and which one you would recommend?
I am using a Braun Series 5 (Made in Germany) and used it since 2018 without a problem. Threw it on the counter (dont ask me why)just last weekend it fell apart into its pieces but nothing broke, you can still get replacement parts.
You probably can’t get that exact model but Braun (2018) is the best recommendation I can give RN.
I have a Braun series 7. It’s getting a little old but it works really well. I will eventually buy another one in a different series.
Are these still made in Europe? I bought MG7930, which is a series 7 multi-groom (not a shaver, I know) in 2025 and it says “Made in Indonesia”.
Thanks!

Philips sold off a number of divisions (such tv’s, lighting and others), but not personal health including shavers and trimmers. Can’t imagine they’re made in the EU, but they are a European company. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philips

Braun, i think their biggest competitor, is actually not European. They were initially German, but became part of Gilette like 50 years ago, which in turn became part of P&G. I have strong feelings for the company, especially the products designed by Dieter Rams or the later products inspired by them - but if you’re set on buying European you’ll have to look further. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braun_(company)
I have two Braun products, a toothbrush and an electric razor and their labels both say Made in Germany
Thanks!

I use the Philips OneBlade. If the shaver head jams up, you can simply exchange the head for a new one. Bought this after my second Remington crapped out on me, never touching that brand again.
Using Braun series 9. It’s close to series 7. Up to you if it’s worth spending the extra for it. I tried Phillips Norelco and they always tore up my neck. I’m happier with the Braun but everyone is different. I do have to replace the heads every couple of years.
I can recommend looking for something with USB-C, super useful when travelling. Less stuff to carry around, just choose the phone’s charger.
Yes, exactly! I saw an old video of Philips and it does not have usb-c.
My Philips MG7930 has a USB-A to “shaver plug” cable, which means you at least don’t have to travel with a charger. I charge it from USB-A port in my laptop.
What made me choose it is that there are some replacement parts available (combs, blade, cable) and if you’re good with electronics/soldering you can replace the battery inside as well. With minor repairs it should last a decade or more.
I use a combination of a Philips Beard Trimmer Series 5000 (BT5205/16) and a Braun (9-in-1) MGK5280.
The Philips runs - thanks to replacment parts - since december 2016.
Interesting thanks!
I have a foil razor from TPOB that I like.
It’s not European
