You can’t rehabilitate that guy’s image for anyone who wasn’t already open to that idea. The problem is that we have no sociological or political way to dissuade them from holding that opinion publicly.

We need to punch more nazis. Hard.

Might even argue that we’ve created a number of powerful incentives to encourage people to hold the opinion publicly.

Or we can acknowledge that the idea of freedom of speech is incompatible with the idea that billionaires can exist and own media.

I agree with the sentiment, but… I think the same logic as not naming school shooters applies. Naming these people (or linking to their YouTube channels or whatever) tends to result in amplifying them, bringing them more views and shares. They thrive on attention. It’s better not to feed the Streisand effect.

I’m all for humiliating them in public, but in my experience you can’t effectively humiliate them on the internet. It’s just attention for them. Obscurity is better, or reporting them to whatever platform they’re on if you can demonstrate that they’ve violated the terms of service in some way.

The sad part is that this kind of works. My brown ass friend is convinced that hitler was the good guy and that he is aryan. It’s good propaganda if you can convince minorities that the “gas all minorities” guy had good ideas.

      Fuck Nazis

Yes but also let’s not let amerinazis completely rewrite history here.

      • The war started in 1939.
      • America remained Neutral until Pearl Harbor in late 1941.
      • D-day happened in 1944, and was America’s first major land battle in the European theatre.
      • The war was over in 1945 when the Soviet Union (under Stalin) captured Berlin. They were an ally.

Prior to this, America was supportive of eugenics. Even now, a lot of Americans are in favor of eugenics if you just don’t phrase it as if it’s volunteer-based (I.e. paying women to get sterilized).

After this, we were so butthurt about the commies being the heroes that we proceeded to tow the world around on a decades-long dick-measuring contest during which most the world felt they could get turned to dust at any moment, and proceed to re-write history to make it out as if America were the heroes, Churchill was the goofy sidekick, and Hitler screwed up by entering Russia in the winter.

Good thing cinema/entertainment is our biggest export, eh? Hollywood is a real-world minitru.

If there’s one thing Trump has done well, it’s shatter the fourth wall of the second estate.

Believe it or not, I do think this is an important point. You have Zionism / “Apartheid”, the whitewashing of Ukrainian Nazi ideation, and MAGA. The headline states “A growing constituency on the right wants America to unlearn the lessons of World War II.” But it IS NOT just the right and not just America. Germany loudly defended Israel against genocide accusations. They clearly unlearned the lessons. The entire western media ignores the Nazi problems in Ukraine. And almost all imperialist western media ignores the genocide committed by Israel. I think it’s safe to say the lesson has been unlearned already. Because it was convenient to do so.

I think it’s incredibly arrogant and pretty blatantly rude to come into a completely unrelated thread and start spouting what essentially accounts to nothing more than propaganda.

Whether you’re right or wrong, you’re just an asshole.
