      IPP sentences (which have been given for theft and assaults etc =/= life sentences from manslaughter or murder.

        Yes, you, I, and the Prison Reform Trust get that, but there will absolutely someone on an IPP sentence that - like the people who accidentally killed Harper - has a story which is suitably easy to make negative fear mongering headlines about.

        And it’s abundantly clear that Burnham’s media pleasing nature will lead to immediate capitulation and a continuation of the crisis.

    Are there similar precautions in effect? Seems weird not to have this. If someone is insane to the degree of being incapable of guilt in the eyes of the law and poses a threat to the public you probably should be able to get him into a psych ward until they get well.

      Yes, there’s options for long-term treatment available.

      Like everything they’re over stretched since austerity and have never been restored.
