I went D.C.→Florida in 2023, and found it really unsettling that you get to the exact same carbon-copy of a parking lot with the Walmart in the middle, and then you enter the Walmart and it has the exact same layout as the last one you were in, down to the meanest stick of gum.
I mean I guess it’s convenient when you want to find a specific item or you need to go to the bathroom, but I’m not going to go exploring the USA by car again.
That is amazing that you see so many JC Penneys still in business
During their last bankruptcy, one of the mall groups (Simon?) bought them to add to their portfolio of dying / dead mall brands.
I assume it’s some ploy to rent their own mall space to failed brands they own.
