Tax breaks, tariffs, stock buybacks, etc are being used to liquidate the economy rather than build anything. They make no sense from a nation building perspective because of the ‘opportunity cost’ associated with them: an equally sized investment rather than a debit would have increased in value over time. The infrastructure, schooling, the entire natural ecosystem, they are all being decimated because the US is being liquidated by billionaires on private islands. Natural disasters and rising unemployment, hunger and poverty will all increase until the us military is defeated.
I absolutely get your point though, and agree, that we shouldn’t just give up. I think understanding the long term outlook is important context though. Despite the larger trends, victories will be had, on the local level, on the state level, maybe even the national level, and those victories are meaningful, they are worth fighting for.
You should definitely vote, but for many people its absolutely not free. Time off is money lost, and your government is making sure that you need to do that, among myriad other ways.
Respectable employers allow time to go vote, polling places hand out “I voted” stickers as a receipt. Polling places are also open early and close late to accommodate for staggered shifts. There’s even options for absentee voting. There’s options not really limiting anyone. Just saying.

The next President can use the SAME power to claw back a lot of the taxpayer dollars that has been grifted from the public.
It should be a question asked of every Presidential candidate: Will you use the now expanded power - thanks to Trump - of the Office to reclaim taxpayer funds illegally taken by the prior administration?
Any candidate that waffles even a bit on the answer, is out.

No, it is not free, but the financial fucking that comes of not voting is even more expensive and that is what people need to focus on.
