Fresh data from CNN puts his approval at a meager 34 percent, matching his post-Jan. 6 trough, while a new AP-NORC poll has him tied at a post-2017 low of 33 percent. Quinnipiac paints an even grimmer picture, dropping him to a career low of 32 percent.
He hadn’t had a stroke so far, so the polls are still not bad enough.
Apart from that, how can a third of the country still not grasp what is happening?
A third of the country has been denied adequate education and services because the inequitable distribution of resources towards affluent urban versus poor rural areas.
Democrats have failed to significantly improve the material conditions in some of the poorest areas of the country, so a lot of rural voters feel betrayed and would rather go with the guy who is a outright greedy jerk, than the politician who talks out of the side of their mouth, while still obeying their corporate masters.
That’s not entirely true though. Biden got through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill that invested heavily in developing rural electric and internet. He also supported the USDA ReConnect Program, and several other initiatives. Many of these things that Democrats helped pushed through were celebrated as “wins” by Republican Representatives.
What were they expecting?

I can’t disagree with that.
And I also have to concede that a lot of rural voters have gotten entrenched into their ultra religious echo chambers, and anything that has to do with public education gets rejected as “woke agenda” to them. So they vote against their own interests.
The problem was created by lack of resources and now that the effects have firmly taken root, it’s hard to reverse course.
perhaps a president that would value justice and holding insurrectionists accountable more than decorum, or who could speak the people more than once a year and was not a grimacing mumbling speech, or for a president to understand he had record levels of unpopularity and was not suited to run again, letting the dems actually provide excitement and pick from a primary of candidates and not the regularly first dropped primary candidate in all her previous attempts
I won’t disagree with any of that. There’s many many things that could have been done better.
This is the real answer. Rural areas have been completely ignored other than subsidies for corporations and wealthy farmers. No funding for schools or hospitals or roads or infrastructure.
So they voted in a way that is counterproductive, that might make their lives worse. That seems silly until you remember their lives were already being made worse.
That third of the country is what the Republicans rely on, they’re their hardcore voting bloc. They will be for anything the Republicans do because “The Democrats are doing it but worse!” They believe that the reason Democrats don’t get in trouble so often is they’re better at hiding their horrendous acts instead of just not doing them. As well they’re generational voters, have voted Republican since Lincoln and never will change.
