    Let me guess before reading: cheap labor? Basically it’s a developed country, speaking a European language, with European culture, highly skilled labour, and some of the cheapest salaries in the continent. It’s closer than shipping from Asia , so also easier to control quality (which is a big problem when ordering from Asia, specially small amounts). All these extra things mentioned are basically nice to haves, or directly lead to cost reduction.

      Yup, and sadly one of the main reasons I believe the government does not want to increase Portuguese salaries. Probably afraid that the foreign companies will look for other markets to move their factories…

        Portugal unfortunately has no moat besides a coastline and islands. If salaries would increase to EU average, most IT and manufacturing industry would vanish.
