I can’t help but feel like this attitude is a byproduct of homework being the biggest part of a grade and not actually understanding the material.

These people think that because the “homework” is done, they’re deserving of all the praise and acclaim. The system has conditioned them to think so, in many cases it’s literally rewarded them for it. That’s how we end up with so many idiots with degrees.
