    That is a perfectly reasonable way to deal with this issue that I never thought of.

    Now I can shift my anxiety to how people will react if I tell them I’m autistic, but frankly, looking at the communities I tend to gravitate towards, odds are they’re more likely to ask about my hyperfocus than take issue.

    Thanks for breaking me out of the trap of perspective!

      Shouldn’t really be an issue. Especially amongst artists.

      Sauce: am an artist. Have no issue with neuro spicy, I just need preferences on how you want to communicate/ask for requests, etc.

      Stepson is on the spectrum, he hates when i ask him to take care of something and phrase it as a request as opposed to a command, so “little AngelFangs, you wanna load the dishwasher?” is out, while “yo, little AngelFangs, load the dishwasher, please.” Is what he prefers.

      While it’s a challenge to help him move through a neuro-typical world without his autism contributing to a short circuit of behavior and action, I’m super proud of him. He doesn’t tolerate injustice, is caring and interested in the people he cares about, plays a mean violin and guitar, and is growing into a decent, well educated and morally sound dude.
