Here’s a sourced article that actually shows the hands-on seeming plagiarism of AIs, how common it is, how the logical reasoning seems to be lacking, and so on. I thought perhaps people here would find it useful to convince friends that are misled by the AI craze.

      I’m guessing to most people here, there’s little news. But I thought for whenever an AI fanboy comes around and is like “surely it doesn’t plagiarize that often”, it could be useful to have references to actual studies ready.

        No I mean the way I use it is to essentially do that. Set the temperature really low and you can use it as a fancy bloom filter lol. I’m not a fanboy, I do think the tech is fascinating and has some real potential for useful tools if used as a carefully controlled component in things. But I do separate the tech and the implementation of the tech as products around us and as tools around us.
