This is Sal Khan, the founder of Khan Academy, which has been on the AI enshitification journey for a while now.
Sal Khan in 2023 proudly proclaimed that AI could revolutionise EdTech with highly personalised tutoring, and made Khan Academy go all in on AI with their Khanmigo AI assistant tutor. Part of this ted talk explicitly has the AI pretend to be historical figures for assistance in history.
Three years later, Sal Khan admitted what all teachers already knew: that the AI tutor failed because most students didn’t even both with it. Digging through forums reveals the similar suite of reasons: factual inaccuracies, inability to understand basic arithmetic, and opaque pricing based on “usage.”
Didn’t stop him from partnering with big tech to offer $10K bachelor degrees though.

I’m sure he could save 3-10x of his money by using open source models. Anthropic charges too much when Kimi K3 matches its capabilities.

I hate how there’s a certain segment of the population who loves to hate everything AI, while a vast majority of the programmers are saying that it really is changing everything. Maybe it’s not yet ready for your industry, but it’s a fundamentally different world (and attitude) for ours.
You just can’t be stupid about it. Re-interate on rules to fix bad behaviors, AI and human code reviews together, don’t burn tokens just because you can. And you can’t say stupid shit like “Want to interview my agents first?”
Shit, speaking of interviews, it’s all over the HR world, too. Agents writing resumes and the agents that read them for filtering.

If you’re automating the wokflows, what do they need you for?
We use powerautomate for lots of tasks. It breaks regularly, but it does save us from sending 15,000 emails a quarter.
If he’s so successful, why is he going to so many job interviews lately?
I mean, I actually kind of agree with the first two panels, especially if AI use is kept to a minimum.
Also, the yellow and white text used randomly instead of to indicate the speaker drives me nuts.
What are you automating?
I must’ve watched about 5 videos about OpenClaw/Hermes and I still have no clue what value add this brings to a normal person’s life
It can also be setting up unattended upgrades on a server with email logs. Thats a useful yet pretty easy to learn skill
Automating doesn’t have to be AI. An excel macro or simple script that automates repetitive tasks is valuable.

Tiktok and other pathological short-form video usage on phones has seriously fucked over subtitling in general. Random highlight colors, burned in subtitles on videos that you can’t turned off, subtitles on videos that flash every word spoken, one fucking word at a time.
Agree. I am so happy whenever a creator fucks the subtitle system into their bidding (typically using the ASS to YTS project… I love ASS subtitles)
