Hrmm interesting I thought the concept in the movie was fine, I thought the execution and focus on the space camp nonsense was … well … nonsense. Sounds like the book might be worth a read. To be fair thats usually the case, movie adaptations almost always need to cripple the original text to shoehorn it into the medium.
Well, the space camp’s true purpose is a spoiler. It’s one of those situations where they make a thing to do one thing, but sell it to the public on another thing entirely. And they do that in the hopes that when someone passes the test, they are on board with the true purpose.
I wanna say this has been done in other mediums, but I’m trying to recall all the movies and shows and anime and games I’ve seen recently and I’m not seeing it. But I know it’s a trope.
