Sounds like its removed the sort of law that’s just used to target minorities.

Exactly, cruisers aren’t the ones driving while starting at their phones and running over cyclists.

Brodozer bans/maximum hood heights would save a lot more lives.

we have a war with the vroom vroom crowd coming. whether it’s these folks, or the ones that race around racking up tickets, or hostile designs like the cybertruck and humongous ‘pickups’… and the whole time they’re spewing even more CO2 that haha WE REALLY DON’T FUCKING NEED just to satisfy some schmuck’s urgent need for attention.

I feel like this is fine, and I don’t really care. For one thing, this seems like a law that is almost impossible to enforce or prosecute - so it is just there for cops to have a reason to pull people over. And I doubt there is any epidemic of people voluntarily choosing to sit in traffic for fun. The shift away from auto dependence should be driven by creating walkable places that are economically productive and nice to be in - not by keeping weird, draconian laws just because they theoretically inconvenience some drivers.

Driving just to drive, not to get somewhere. Often kind of a social event to see and be seen, kind of like a promenade, but in cars.
