This is one of the ones I can’t follow. Even if the end goal is to literally exploit everyone for the greatest amount of money, it would make sense investing in them living longer, so to extract more value.

That, and the system is fixated so much on short term profits that they willingly forego much higher long term profits.
CEOs and the like are hired and fired based on recent and shortly upcoming fiscal quarters, not long term stability.
TL;DR: Capitalism is a death cult that kills the exploiters as well as the exploited. Just not fast enough.
