Yep, get rid of health insurance companies aside from as upgraded coverage. Works great in France and so many other places with superior health outcomes than the US.
Hell I’d even be fine following the German SHI system. Just something that would actually provide actual universal coverage and regulate the out of control insurance companies.
They’re charging six figures for appendectomies. They have insurance pay the negotiated rate then bill you the difference. So despite insurance, if you don’t have a reasonable out of pocket maximum, you’re going in debt regardless.
