Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, drew a wave of online ridicule after complaining that Democrats want to make Ohio a state.
Trump Jr. made the remark Monday while actually in the Buckeye State to campaign for Republican candidates.
“They want to, what is it? Save democracy by destroying democracy,” Trump Jr. said of Democrats. “They wanna pack the Supreme Court. They wanna make Ohio a state, make D.C. a state, have permanent one-party rule.”
With the headline I assumed he fumbled a line about making Ohio a competitive state, but nope, it’s about actual statehood. And the territory that would fit there, Puerto Rico, is nothing like Ohio.
People can jumble terms in the same category, but it’s still a pretty laughable mistake. Probably should use a teleprompter if you’re not well practiced at public speaking.
I’m guessing DC was the intended remark, that he said Ohio and then DC was the intended correction.
He was probably reminding himself in his head that he was in Ohio as he spoke and when it came to say a state like name, his internal reminder just leaked out.
Still funny, but I can see how it could have happened.

Remember when he had to like walk up stairs and he got mad because hes a fat POS, and so then he blamed Europe as a unit for it but it was actually his own team that disabled the escalators.
I could see thinking geographically and saying something like Cuba, but Ohio? That’s a new level of disconnection from reality.
