OpenFile is a static React and Vite app, so there is no backend to run and nothing to keep patched. Every tool uses WebAssembly or Web Workers in the visitor’s browser. The repo has a Dockerfile and it also works from any static host. I built it so I could stop trusting upload based converter sites. Live demo: https://openfile-studio.vercel.app/ . I am the author. I would like feedback on the self hosting setup and which tools are missing for your homelab workflow.
Not only is it slop it also seems to be yet another pdf tool. I’ve lost count of how many I have seen in the last 6 months. Does anyone even need a tool like this?
Wonder why all the webapps look the same now?🤖
It’s so bad that I can’t even tell which website I am opening at this point. Everything has the same design, icons, layout, etc.
Yeah the authors bio is
Builds agentic harnesses and agent skills, and writes daily AI news on DEV
With a list of AI tools they’ve contributed to. They’ve built a tool that supposedly does 500+ things in 6 days, by hand. The post title says [CBH] though I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t read the rules and just saw that on another post and thought that meant “here’s my project”. I reported the post. I don’t care if people post things they’ve built with AI, as long as they don’t claim the opposite, that’s the point of disclosure
What shoes CBH even mean? I feel like I’ve never seen it.
Code By Human, meaning a project that did not use AI for anything
The full rules are here:

An extension of Rule 7 in the sidebar
And the emojis. 😭😭😭
“🚀 New Features:”
It’s the same as those dumb AI posters. Worst is it all looks bloated, as if the AI cannot phantom having a square of empty space anywhere.
Claude likes to place a random radial gradient on any places of empty space, it picked this up from social media and other places with user supplied content, where the platform has a fixed aspect ratio for the user provide images and shows a blurred photo behind the actual photo. Claude parsed it as “random colour blur”, rather than the image itself, just blurred and stretched. It also applies this pattern to many times
We’ve reached peak UX with https://www.spacejam.com/1996/
https://www.spacejam.com/2021/ is not much different tho
Cool thing! 🙂
There’s something up with that Cloud thingy on the top though. If I open the website with my Smartphone browser (Fennec on Android 14, Adreno 6xx series) it lags like no tomorrow as long as that cloud is being rendered.
