Michigan Democratic Party chair Curtis Hertel made it crystal clear on Sunday that Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) was no longer welcome in the state’s Democratic party.

Hertel posted to X after Stevens yanked her support from Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D) and gave it to his Republican challenger, “Congresswoman Stevens is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future.”

What? I’m just asking what happened. I haven’t said anything about what I think about him. But if somebody disavowed him quickly, but not too quickly, it makes it seem like he did something to change somebody’s mind.

The answer for my entire lifetime was “play nice with republicans”. It’d be cool if that changed though.

Yeah, that’s unfortunately kinda been the winning one my entire life.

And I don’t get it, Republicans NEVER play ball. There is no amount of compromise you can do that will make a Republican move a centimeter to the left.

The Affordable Care Act twisted itself into pretzels trying to appease the Right and in the end passed without a single Republican vote

Ultimately triangulation just allows the dems to justify to their voters why they aren’t doing what the voters want, and instead doing what their donors want. Its always been electorally dumb, hence why you never see republicans use it.

I don’t believe it is a conspiracy so much as a system where politicians who bring in more money have more influence and are surrounded by staffers who get filtered by income and ideology.
