“A stronger Europe is vital and the UK must be at the heart of it,” Starmer told an audience at the British Irish Chamber of Commerce on Friday.

“I will say here what I have said to European leaders. This is about responding to a permanent change of affairs, not an aberration of the Trump presidency. Things will not go back to the way they were before.

Is he right?

Get off America tech. Running closed America software on closed American hardware, at the heart of our government, industry and military is absolutely insane. They can just turn off it when they like for who they like. Their anticompetitive market places hoover money out the country, basically untaxed, and sell good that don’t meet our regulations. It all just insane.

100% this. A cut of every penny we spend goes to mastercard or visa. Most products include cloud compute these days with AWS or Azure, which are really expensive, that are baked into the prices. Everything is on an app that’s does nothing but extract a margin. How much of our GDP ends up in these foreign tech companies?

Starmer spoke after spending time in Dublin meeting senior business leaders and politicians, including the taoiseach, Micheál Martin

Advocating for ending reliance on US tech companies in Dublin will not go down well. Starmer is an idiot, but he’s not stupid.

Despite him being a useless sack of shit as a Labour leader and Prime Minister, he does have inside information having been at the top.
