Yen also mentioned “org changes,” and said that part of this is “redistributing talent across teams.” He said that the reorganization will happen next month, “but there will be no loss of jobs from AI.”
TL; DR Nothing has really changed, we’re just going to be more discreet to avoid further backlash, also layoffs are coming, don’t worry, we won’t say it’s because of AI.
This is why you don’t bargain with terrorist tech bros. Andy and his cronies need to go.
The most popular feature request on their uservoice right now is to fire the CEO

So does anyone have suggestions for what to switch to once my current proton subscription is up? The vpn is the most important part to me, but if I can get a good email and maybe even cloud service with it, that would be perf
I’ve been eyeing IVPN
Hi Proton. This is how to solve your enshitification problem.

Loser here. I wrote them yesterday and said canceling the re-interviews isn’t enough. Yen must go. My subscription is up for renewal in January and have plans to leave if Yen is still around in a week.
Such a shame. Remember when everyone wanted to work for tech because it was so great?
Companies don’t usually listen until their bottom line is threatened. Harsh words mean nothing if there are no consequences.
When you post/vote make sure to include a cancellation screenshot. That’s what I did.
I was upvoting lots of good ideas yesterday!
Deleted my ProtonMail account last evening. Quoted the 404media article from yesterday and demanded his removal as CEO in my cancellation comment. For what it’s worth.
Hopefully if thousands of users do the same it might penetrate the veil of CEO-impunity.
I did the same. I doubt anything happens cuz like that employee said in the follow up article, Yen has most of the shares. But we’ll see!
Isn’t proton a not–for-profit org out of Switzerland?
Doesn’t mean they don’t have owners (shareholders = owners of some part of the company) with the power to make decisions, just that they don’t pay out profits to their owners or shareholders. As a result, decisions aren’t motivated by personal enrichment, but by furthering the mission of the company.
On paper, anyway.
Jokes on them. I got permanently banned from Proton last year for using it for distribution.
I just moved there last year. Where do people get mail and cloud storage that isn’t problematic these days?
I use Posteo for email and pCloud for storage, pCloud had a lifetime plan of 500GB for 150€ which I think is quite reasonable considering todays SSD prices
Besides self hosting? (Mail servers are a nightmare, so I’ve heard.) I honestly don’t have much of an idea…
Haha pussies. Never forget they tried!
they are an ai company so what did people expect?
People expected security informed development from the company marketing itself as secure.
For any particular reason, or just because that is how the company marketed themselves, and because lots of people said ‘proton’?
There is a lesson to be learned here.
