After he stopped, Richardson twice tried to pull Mullins out, before returning to the car and driving sharply and deliberately from side to side before mounting a grass verge, the court heard. Mullins was finally released but was then driven over again as Richardson reversed and drove away.
Holy fucking shit. This person is a threat to everyone. No care at all for others, only for self-preservation. Glad he’s locked up.
“we don’t have car culture!”
Truly harrowing. Just round the corner from me, and an area I frequently cycle. I hate it here.
Stay safe out there
Thank you dear stranger, I will try my best.
I guess the guy didn’t like cyclists!
But the guy was cycling too slow and he had places to be!
Did you not seen the damage to his car?
Yesterday an 18 cyclist was killed in a hit and run, at noon in Montreal.
Holy shit that is horrific
I can imagine myself going into shock and doing irrational things shortly after an unexpected horrific event. Like, driving the one mile before coming back into one’s right mind is somewhat explainable. But then all the actions after the stop ending with abandoning the person - it’s mind boggling.
Seems like it’s only fair that he gets transported under the bus to prison for his sentence.
Coming from the US, if he had stopped the car immediately, the bicyclist would likely be alive, and the driver would’ve received a metaphorical slap on the wrist by comparison to the act he performed. Murder is the only outcome he deserves.

Prison, courts, laws also fix nothing. What’s your point?
I know it didn’t happen in the US. That’s my only insight that I could offer. I don’t know how favorable UK courts are to drivers. If it had happened in the US, and the driver stopped immediately after impact, it likely wouldn’t have turned out too badly for the driver because of how favored drivers are and how light their punishments are from US judges.
As for capital punishment, I wasn’t even mentioning the punishment for the driver. The incident being classified as “murder” is the only outcome that could work given the driver’s actions. I wasn’t calling for the execution of the driver at all.
I hope that clears up my positions. Correspondence through text isn’t always great at conveying intentions.

I do like hearing that other countries are slightly less car-brained.
In the US, it’s normally OK to hit someone with your car. Unless that person is a cop. The pigs will execute babies over that.
Not every story needs to be ‘America bad’. Give it a rest.
Yeah! Other countries suck too! You wanna fight about it!?
This didn’t happen in the US. There is nothing about this story related to the USA. Not every story has to have an American perspective.
I meant it as a complement, jerk. As in, look how much better the UK is with traffic fatalities. But you’re right, fuck those colonial assholes. Goddamn nation of thieves and drunks, get out of Ireland!
Is that European enough for you?

I know this unpopular, but I feel this has nothing to do with cars. I get that it’s taking the weapon away, in a sense, but I think this kind of person was gonna pop at some point anyway.
Just sayin, not reportin, or nuthin.
The news is that he was actually charged and convicted.
cause it’s not the us
What other weapon might he have had available in some situation where he might get overcome with random vicious anger?
And in a way where the beginning of the violence is mostly accidental.I don’t think any other weapon than a car would have been able to bring him into this heinous deed.
That’s not just unpopular, that’s ridiculous and factually incorrect. First of all, nothing in the article mentions anything about premeditation or anything suggesting he would’ve murdered the guy by other means instead.
Second, it’s well-established fact that the act of driving causes aggression that otherwise would not exist. Hell, Disney was making cartoons about it 75 years ago! The reason the behavior is specific to driving is that:
Oh I guess I must be wrong and ridiculous because the article absolutely lists all the facts, and premeditation was not explicitly mentioned.
