I don’t think there is much to worry about them at this stage. Perhaps during the primary elections there was a divide between viable candidates, but now that we’re in the generals you get to choose between Red or Blue and no matter what AIPAC spends that difference is night and day on the topic of Israel and Palestine.
How is AIPAC influence over the election not “much to worry about?” At the very least it’s important to know where to look next time.
If the call to action is to contact a DNC rep and ask them to do what is already in the DNC platform, banning PACs and undoing the Citizens United decision while also strengthening elections against outside influences, then great. If the call is to be enraged about a DNC candidate right before the midterm then fuck off.
I wish people were as critical towards the National Association of Realtors as they are AIPAC, they spend literally 10x more.
I think a big part of it is that AIPAC is a foreign lobby. For any foreign lobby to have as much power and influence over our governments as AIPAC is a threat to our sovereignty as an independent nation.
That said, NAR definitely needs to be significantly reigned in as well, along with a lot of industry lobbying groups
There shouldn’t be industry lobbying groups.
There shouldn’t be any lobbying groups. Lobbying is legalized pay-to-play corruption.
Proletariat lobbies are good.
Maybe once we get some more proper socialists in office.
Overturning Citizens United would do wonders on this front as well.
I mean, what else can they do but keep on? They’ve lost a lot of the American public, but if they lose the American Congress, that’ll really start to hurt.
