The PM says he wants a “factual” and “evidence-based debate” about returning to free movement between Britain and Europe.
Should the UK adopt freedom of movement with the EU again?
Should the UK rejoin the EU single market?
Should the UK rejoin the EU entirely?
Yes. Duh. At the time I said it would be 10 years until we start moving towards rejoining. It’s such a no brainer.
Should the UK adopt freedom of movement with the EU again?
Should the UK rejoin the EU single market?
Should the UK rejoin the EU entirely?
The first two were never part of the brexit referendum, leaving was them just something the tories decided to do on their own. Norway and Switzerland are part of the single market.
Very true. It would have been entirely sensible for the UK to have had a second referendum regarding which kind of Brexit should be pursued. We could have stayed in the single market, or parts of it, while still leaving the EU. We could have stayed in the customs union; Turkey is in the EU customs union while not being an EU member.
Alas, the Tories chose a hard Brexit on a whim.
Stupid voters chose brexit. That’s where the main blame sits.
Voters chose leaving the EU by a slim margin, but the UK could have still taken part in the EU single market without being an EU member, like Norway does.
So you could say that blame for the way in which Brexit turned out lies with politicians, specifically Tory politicians who pushed through a hard Brexit without consulting the public on it. So much for “democracy”.
A stupid choice maybe, yes, but I place the main blame squarely with the tories, a sensible government could have mitigated the disaster.
I think you’ll find that brexit meant brexit.
We need to end 40 years of neoliberalism!
So let’s join the neoliberal institution par excellence that like a vampire sucks the life out of its periphery members and prevents labour organising internationally across the EU!
Hello, Blair, is that you again?
