Yeup. It should be clear still that this is not a reason not to vote D in midterms though.

And it should be noted how the Trump prosecution case stopped when he became president. So it’s not at all unimportant who wields the power when it comes to these court cases.

Edit: I read this first thing after waking up and skimmed over the double negative. That’s my bad lol. 😅

          –

Yeah, since nothing’ll change, let’s just keep everything the same, because this is going just swell.

Not a reason to vote D my fucking ass.

Of all things to ‘both sides’ this is stupid. One group is actually following due process, the other is literally ignoring due process and intercepting any attempt to reign in corruption.

And none of that ‘controlled opposition’ patter, due process was moving forward until Trump was re-elected and every bit of opposition was summarily dismantled and dismissed.

One group is actually following due process

              Womp womp, that’s the joke.

due process was moving forward until Trump was re-elected

They collectively dragged their ass for four years. An obscenity.

Not to mention, Harris took a knee in the last election (why is a mystery but I bet it was $$$).

You know they generally don’t advertise for Republican votes in Presidential campaigns, don’t you? Harris did (“he doesn’t have to know how you voted”, unprecedented R outreach). Everybody knows that you need independent votes to win, it’s basic math.

I’ve voted, and you should too. But know the game, don’t fall for the dog-and-pony show, that’s the patter. You are repeating the D party line, and you can’t get more patter than that, friend.

The fact is, one party has an active and stated goal of stripping the US for parts and the people of their rights. The other is headed up by milque toast corpo stooges. I shouldn’t have to write a manifesto detailing the ills and failures of both parties to point out that basic but distinct difference in approaches. Dems are political mercenaries at best, Repubs actively campaign on removing rights.

And I’d love to see the D Party actually run on holding people accountable. Let’s not pretend that is an active campaign goal for the Dems. I’d die to hear basic patter like that from Dem leadership. 99% of the time they run to the middle like you pointed out.

I mean investigations are the first part of due process. I agree the rest needs to follow, but an investigation is the start of things.

We also need to quit electing people who like to scuttle investigations, destroy evidence, and stymie witnesses/victims. That is the bigger hindrance to due process.

investigations are the first part of due process.

That is also the only part that the legislative branch can really do. Based on what is found during investigations, they can recommend charges, but that’s about it. Arrests and charges come from the executive branch. Trial and sentencing come from the judicial branch. This separation of power is a safeguard against king shit, and believe it or not, the king shit we’re seeing in action is still less absolute than it could be if not for some power not yet ceded to the executive.

Many of those things are clearly against the law and those perpetrators need to be held accountable (in 2 years, after they can no longer pay for pardons)

Because you can’t arrest, charge, and bring to trial people without evidence, which is what the investigation is for.
