For Kelsey Gellner, a Seattle-based pediatric nurse, a statewide proposal to bar trans girls from sports participation feels like a violation of her duty as a medical professional. The ballot initiative includes a requirement she calls “invasive and extreme”: all students who wish to compete on girls’ teams would have to undergo genital exams.

“I tell my kids and patients that my No 1 job is to keep them safe,” said Gellner, who is also a board member of the Washington State Nurses Association. “I can say with confidence that girls do not want to have an unnecessary exam that creates an unsafe barrier.”

Now, state to state is bound to be some variation so definitely not saying you’re lying if you never got checked…

But did you personally ever do a sports physical for football?

It wasn’t a secret, we all talked about how fucking weird it was. Definitely a normal part of the exam. The entire team pretry much all went at the same time to the same clinic every year the day the forms were passed out.

Can confirm. Always hated this for pop warner football as a kid in the 90s.

There’s a bunch of people on here that never have any idea what they’re talking about, but constantly want to tell everyone what their uninformed opinion is.

It’s really fucking weird, and almost always comes from the fringe instances.

My physicals did not include getting groped by adults to “check for hernias.”

I’m sorry you guys lived in pedo states.

There’s also, btw, a difference between a sports physical and the physical a 40+ year old man gets to make sure he doesn’t have colon cancer, since you seem confused on the matter. Not to mention unironically saying “they did it to me 30 years ago!”

You know, because they’re cheaper and less invasive…

Abuse victims are often the most fervent supporters of abusive systems, and predators often seek positions of access.

Figure it out, dum dum, meanwhile the civilized world isn’t groping children’s genitals for problems they aren’t reporting like “my balls hurt from a famously painful condition”

The necessity of it could be argued, but the motivation of it was medical. A doctor performing a test that was mandated by the league does not make them a pedophile. It was a common practice that was well documented, not a secret in a back room. I can’t say that it was necessary, I’m not a doctor. But pretending it was motivated by pedophilia is idiotic.

I think you linked studies for people in that age range which tells me you don’t understand the difference between a sports physical for children and a comprehensive physical for aged adults.
