With increases in prices then surely there would be increased support for improving energy efficiency? Which you get with heat pumps and insulation.

My total energy bill is like £85/month with a heat pump and likely to drop soon from increasing efficiencies in my house like new internal doors. Its not even a new build, pre-war.

By sustainably recovering North Sea oil and gas, Scotland can avoid expensive retrofits with lower fuel pricing.

You will still be paying the market rate for fuels, it doesn’t make a difference where they come from. Also, “sustainably recovering”? That doesn’t exist.

Drilling for oil is also expensive and leaves you with nothing again the moment you have burnt it.

Yes, but more importantly (imho, and ignoring, y’know, fucking up the environment): every drop of oil produced just delays the transition to renewables, and the longer it’s left the more painful it will be.

By leveraging green, clean, and sustainable oil and gas recovery technologies Scotland can create local jobs, lower fuel prices, keep warm in the colder months, and cool in the warmer ones.
