He is simply too old. Even if he is the best example of someone who wants to bring people together, after a certain age you can’t really understand what the young people are about.
Soft disagree. A very old man can “get it” without being “Hey fellow youths! 76 skippity toilet bees knees.” But the efforts needed to connect are harder as they get older (like everything else), and Senate is so old, insular, and entrenched its definitely not the place to understand up-to-date issues beyond being spoonfed talking points by an orchestrating team.
Sadly Bernie’s brain has also started to melt. I’m a fan of the guy, but not a fan of him in the Senate any more.
